RATES

Fees depend on the nature, complexity, and dimensions of the specific project—and on the level of service and skill required.

For some projects, it's appropriate to proceed on an hourly rate basis. For other long-term projects (a book project, for example), it's more appropriate to proceed on a set-fee basis.

With some description of the project and a review of selected material—I can provide an estimate. A firm proposal requires a review of the entire project.

Here are some "ballpark" per hour figures:

  • Proofreading: $20-25

  • Copy editing: $25-35

  • Substantive editing: $35-50

  • Developmental editing: $50-75

  • Writing/rewriting: $50-100

  • Research: $50-100

A cost-free initial consultation will help us assess your research, writing, and editing needs. We can then arrive at some general cost estimates.
